CO2 laser treatment is a pioneering method for correcting mature or damaged skin. A significant improvement of skin’s appearance can often be achieved after only one treatment. The following skin problems can be treated effectively with the CO2 fractional laser:
- Pigment disorders, age spots
- Acne scars, scars
- Pore and complexion enhancement
- Skin rejuvenation
- Pregnancy stretch marks, other stretch marks (conditional)
- Décolletage wrinkles
TheCO2 fractional laser removes targeted areas of the skin’s upper layer and the laser light creates tiny holes in the skin’s surface. Each point of skin that is treated is therefore surrounded by non-lasered skin. The process stimulates the connective tissue and accelerated collagen production. The provoked healing process allows new smoother and firmer skin to be formed. How long does a treatment last with the CO2 fractional laser?
A facial treatment with the CO2 fractional laser lasts approximately 30 minutes (depending on the size of the area being treated). From our experience and from patient feedback, effective results can be achieved after an average of 3-5 sittings at intervals of 4-6 weeks. Depending on the skin type and the problem, even just one sitting may suffice. What happens during the treatment with the CO2 fractional laser?
Before the actual laser treatment takes place, a detailed consultation will take place between the doctor and patient which will cover an in-depth explanation of the diagnosis and an individually devised treatment proposal. The area to be treated will be numbed with local anesthetic meaning that the treatment is virtually painless. To round off the treatment, the skin’s surface is cooled and a soothing dressing is applied to the lasered area. Is it possible to undergo social activities after CO2 fractional laser treatment?
Minor swelling and redness in the treated area is to be expected immediately after the treatment. The formation of a crust is also one of the normal reactions with special skin peels offering relief. Within 5-7 days the major part of the healing process has already been completed. The CO2 fractional laser treatment can only be performed during the times of the year when the sun’s rays are less intense (late autumn and winter). Are there any risks or side effects?
Personal tolerance to a treatment with a CO2 fractional laser is dependent on the individual and will be discussed in detail during a consultation.
